May 24, 2014: Mazama, WA
1k Kids Fun Run, 5k and 10k
The Mazama 10km has a long history in the valley, starting as a road run along Goat Creek road to the Mazama Community Center for the pancake breakfast. Some years went by and MVSTA took over the event and changed the course to highlight the 10k ski rodeo course. We are now at the helm, and continue their tradition of starting at the Community Center.
Bring the family! With a kids' 1k fun run (untimed), a 5k (with or without a stroller), and a 10k, there is something for everyone. We offer a discount for under-18 runners, and kids 12 and under run for $5 (to cover the unlimited pancakes--see below); we want young people to be excited about sport and competition, and hope this helps grease the wheels a bit.
There will be water and Clif Shot drink at the start/finish, as well as a water stop almost half-way through the 10k course. Each paid entry includes unlimited pancakes at the annual Mazama Pancake Breakfast. Show your bib to get in (please note, this does not include the free 1k fun run bibs).
Registration is open. Please keep in mind that registration fees will go up by $10 ($5 for 5km) after May 18th. Email with any questions; we look forward to seeing you! New to trail running or not sure how to work up to completing a certain distance? Check out how our coaching plans can help you achieve a new goal.
Want to run for free? Bring a volunteer! Email alison(at)methowendurance.com if you or a friend/family member can help make this fun event possible. Most volunteer slots are for less than an hour.
